Tips on How to Reduce Air Pollution

Use public transport

Try to use your car less often to avoid air pollution caused by fuel. Instead, carpool with your friends or neighbors. You can also use public transport if your work allows you to. If it’s a walking distance, just walk. These simple tips can help you reduce air pollution. Adding your car in the already polluted air can worsen the situation. So, avoid driving as much as you can.

Make a garden

A garden helps to cleanse the air. It releases essential nutrients and makes the environment cleaner. Research on the best plants that can help to reduce pollution in the atmosphere; you can consult a landscaper in your local area for the best advice.

Additionally, you can grow your vegetables and fruits. Instead of having a lawn in your backyard, you can plant veggies and fruits. This will ensure you eat organic food while saving fuel used when you travel several miles to the supermarket. You won’t also use your lawnmower to cut grass.

Ride a bike or walk

Most of the pollution affecting the ozone layer is produced by motor vehicles.  This is because the majority of people use their cars daily to travel for distances of about 2 km only. This is a distance that you can easily cover with a bike or on foot. It will help ease traffic, reduce air pollution, and it is also a good form of exercise.

Maintain your car

A well-maintained car uses less gas and emits less pollution. To keep your car running at its best, ensure that the oil is changed and the engine tuned regularly. Get the right fuel additive for catalytic converter to ensure that the catalytic converter effectively turns harmful emissions like nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide into less harmful gases

Use local produce

Transporting goods for consumption from a far distance means you have to use more fuel, which equals more pollution. Instead, buy locally produced foodstuffs. Every season, food is readily available and at a low cost. You not only get to eat fresh farm produce but also help in reducing air pollution.

Avoid wasting electricity

When not using your computers, TV sets, or DVDs, switch them off. It will help save money as it reduces electricity. Use energy-saving bulbs and household appliances labeled “A.” When less power is consumed, fewer pollutants are released into the air.

Use blankets to stay warm if it’s not extremely cold. It helps save on electricity and reduces pollution. Turning on the heater, unnecessarily contributes to energy wastage.

Educate friends and family

Talk to people around you about reducing pollution. If you can take care of the environment together, it will definitely reduce pollution. Create groups and teach others what you know about taking care of the environment.

Help Clean the Air

Every time you drive to work, use the HVAC system, or even style your hair, you make a decision that can affect air pollution. Use the above tips to help clean the air. It’s also important to reduce pollution in all areas, including at work. Therefore, consider going green in your place of work.
